This breakthrough technology was created in collaboration with the University of Edinburgh, ranked among the top 20 universities in the world, and the UK’s national synchrotron particle accelerator, Diamond Light Source.
Plentigrade is the remarkable PCM inside Sunamp thermal batteries which absorbs and releases thermal energy during a melting and freezing process in a similar way to the gel in a pocket handwarmer.
Freezing releases a huge amount of energy in the form of latent heat at a constant temperature.

Our thermal heat store can be charged using any energy source, including renewable energy. You can off-set peak energy costs by charging your thermal heat store with cheaper off-peak electricity, or divert energy from your solar PV, heat pumps or other renewable sources. Once charged, the heat can be released instantly when needed, delivering hot water during peak times.
